Day 50 – The Air and Space Museum


The Smithsonian is not one museum (as I assumed), but several. Since I was a child, I have wanted to see the Air and Space Museum. The Smithsonian is not one museum (as I assumed), but several. Since I was a child, I have wanted to see the Air and Space Museum. It’s an amazing display of the history of flight, told using the actual craft and artifacts. Walking among these mythical machines was an almost spiritual experience. To see spaceships and airplanes that had only existed in tv and movies suddenly become real was something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

    Is that 1701 the series OG? The actual model they used?

      Yes, that is the original filming model from the 1960s. It has been repainted though, I suspect they added more detail. If memory serves, the paint was pretty simple, I don’t recall the weathering and panel lines form the original series.
