Day 51 – Mucho Art


Today was a smorgasbord of art galleries and museums. From 10:00 until 7:00 I toured the Renwick, the American Art Museum, the Cocoran, and the National Portrait Gallery. Today was a smorgasbord of art galleries and museums. From 10:00 until 7:00 I toured the Renwick, the American Art Museum, the Cocoran, and the National Portrait Gallery. The smaller ones had a few notable pieces housed in beautiful buildings. The larger two (the American and portrait galleries) were both substantial and fabulous collections.The American Art Museum had a show featuring the art of the video game. It was gratifying to see my industry treated as an art form and not just a child’s amusement. The exhibit featured kiosks with four examples of games for each major platform of video game. There were games to play and films with interviews with video game professionals. The average age of the attendees was about half that of the other galleries.
