The Barber Motorsports Park is a world class racetrack and motorcycle museum. When I arrive the California super bike school is in session and the grounds are filled with the sound of dozens of high performance bikes lapping the track. Inside the sound is muffled but still audible. The v-twins and inline fours are harmonizing with each other like a gregorian chant, making the five story museum seem like a cathedral. The massive interior is laid out like the Guggenheim, the five stories are linked by descending ramps. The central tower houses a massive glass elevator. Most motorcycle museums will focus on a certain era or country, but Barber has bikes from every decade, even recent ones. It was really neat seeing bikes from the 70s and 80s in mint condition, bikes most museums don’t bother displaying but have become rare on today’s streets.

Ooops…..There goes that jeolous twitch again……. Sorry about that; but the Barber Motorsports Park, Wheels Through Time and Tail of the Dragon are all experiences I would like to hold in my “future maybe’s” list. Thanks, so very much, for sharing them with text and photos.

Very cool! I’ll soon be riding one of these 80′s bikes over here, a Seca 2 XJ600. I forget the year. I’ve been waffling about riding the moto or taking the train to visit an old friend in Versailles this weekend. It’s longer by moto, and the weather is supposed to be rainy but still, I can’t make these damn DeutscheBahn websites spit me out a ticket from Frankfurt to Paris as they should. Very frustrating! As is, I’ll probably leave Darmstadt early Saturday morning and spend one night only in Versailles, returning Sunday afternoon. There’ll be pics whether I’m on 2 or on a train. Ride safe! Keep me posted on your progress and I’ll meet you outside the Bay Area to ride back in.
