Day 11 – Alberta


Morning in Jasper is beautiful. I explore the park a bit before getting back on 16 east. You could easily spend days here hiking and relaxing. If you do, skip the places on the main drag and find a nice secluded cabin. It will be expensive, but so will a crappy motel in town. Pyramid [...]


Morning in Jasper is beautiful. I explore the park a bit before getting back on 16 east. You could easily spend days here hiking and relaxing. If you do, skip the places on the main drag and find a nice secluded cabin. It will be expensive, but so will a crappy motel in town. Pyramid lake was so still that morning the water looked like glass.

The road to Edmonton reminds me of the Midwest. It is largely featureless, with the occasional farm and small town to break the monotony. The town of Wabamun has an annual dragonfly celebration, and at the town entrance, a giant dragonfly (second largest in the world according to a sign).
