The Veterans Memorial was created by Eero Saarinen 40 years ago. It was pretty cool, but essentially a big empty building. Twenty years later they made an addition below it for the art museum. This is what I remember as a kid, and it was a really fun, comprehensive collection. Recently they added the Calatrava wing to it. It’s a magnificent, otherworldly structure that is an amazing work of art on its own. The wings will actually move at different times of day.
A traveling exhibit, the art of the French poster, was really good. Unfortunately no photography was allowed. I have a catalog that will be happy to share with anyone interested.

After the art museums I walked through downtown. It’s a neat city, but it felt mostly deserted. After living in San Francisco and seeing a really active, healthy city the contrast was stark.

Looks like a city I could have really enjoyed. Am sorry that it is one of those cities that is having a rough time. Am hopeful that it will come back to have a great future. Nice pics. Jack VH
